MOBILE PHONE REQUIREMENT

If you wish to use your own phone from home, make sure to bring a compatible GSM/GPRS 900/1800 dual-frequency mobile phone. Though most phones you received from Operators such AT&T or T-Mobile in the US are GSM world phones which support 900/1800, you need to contact them to get a SIM Unlock code to unlock your mobile phone before you leave for China by telling them you are going to use a China Mobile SIM card when you are in China. They might not be happy to lose the lucrative roaming charges, but it is their legal obligation to unlock the phone for your international trips.
